Birthday activities

It’s my boyfriend’s birthday in two weeks and I want to make a big fuss out of him and make the day special for him. I’ve planned a surprise birthday meal with all of his friends for him but this is at 6pm. Although I’m not entirely sure what to do for the rest of the day. We live in a really rural area so there’s not much to do, and we also don’t have much money. We don’t live together yet either. What can we do to make it special???
