The only thing my husband and I got our daughter when she turned one was a book that we both wrote a message in for her to look back on when she's older. I want to say it's called The wonderful things you will be. She got tons of toys from other family members so she definitely didn't go without

We got our kiddo a wagon for his first birthday and he loves it. It has a canopy to shield the sun (but can be removed). It also has two seats with seat belts and they can lay down to make it a bed. It also has lots of storage and cup holders. It’s been so much fun! We take him for walks around the neighborhood and even just around our backyard. He puts snacks, toys and blankets in the storage areas to take for the road. It was $80 on amazon.

A friend got my daughter this for her first birthday and she still plays with it daily at 20 months old.

My daughter also really likes the leapfrog magnetic sets. My mom has the one posted below. We have a couple discontinued sets including the word wammer and the farm set. At a year she only pressed the buttons to make it song, but now she puts letters in and can make matches on the farm one.
