What size coming home outfit?

We had our 32wk growth scan and he is measuring pretty right on at 3lbs 15oz. He is in the 45th percentile for weight.  The dr thinks he’ll probably weigh about 8lbs at birth. 
The outfit I want is on Etsy—
Should I buy a newborn size outfit or 0-3month? 
How big was your baby and what size did they fit in at first?
AND
Due in September should I get long or short sleeve?

I would go with newborn. Even if you have a large baby, it will most likely still fit. And at that point, nothing is going to fit for long, so who cares if it lasts a week versus a month? It’s purpose is to look cute for going home pictures!

When i gave birth with my now 3 year old i had 3 different outfits 3 different sizes had premie, newborn and 3 months my son cane out 8lbs 7oz and i used my newborn outfit

I know nothing of sizes for babies yet so listen to the other comments for that but when it comes to the short or long sleeve debate I would go short. you can always bring a blanket to throw over him on the walk to the car, car ride, and from car to home. or they have LIGHT jackets for babies too that you could get and throw on him if it's a little chilly.

i think you should get newborn. my son was 8 lbs and he could fit in newborn for a couple weeks

Newborn. My daughter was 8.6 lbs at birth and worn newborns for almost a month. She was over 10 lbs at that time too.

My baby was born at 8lbs 15 oz and he was still able to wear newborn size for about the first 2 weeks. Then moved into 0-3 months

My 8.5 pound baby wore 0-3m going home. My other 3 were between 7 and 7.5 pounds and wore a N. I think n will be fine but if baby gets much bigger than 8 pounds it may not fit.

I got newborn for the coming home outfit but I also threw in an outfit in 0-3 months. My first was 7.9lbs and wore newborn. The size chart shows an 8lb baby can wear newborn, albeit probably not for very long. It also will depend on how long your baby is. I’m doing short sleeves, some thin little pants and a hat. I packed socks but since it’s been nearly 100 degrees the last couple weeks I wanna make sure he doesn’t get too hot. I’m due next week.
