Does your so tells you he loves you all the time? Do you prefer him telling you all the time? Or showing you that he loves you?

Answer

Both. But if I had to choose one, it would be actions over words. 
If he told me he loves me but didn’t do anything to make me believe it, I’d be crushed. But if he constantly showed me that he loves me but couldn’t express it verbally, I could handle that. 
My nephew doesn’t say I love you to anyone but he shows it with his actions. 
My partner is very good at both showing my he loves me and telling me he loves me too. #jackpot

Actions. We rarely tell each other “I love you”. It’s shown every single day between us though.
