any bilingual babies ??

Question

I'm American and speak english and my husband is Brazilian and portuguese is his first language. we want our baby to know both 😊 any tips?

Our 4 year old is trilingual. 
She speaks French through me, English through her father and Japanese through nursery/daycare. The first two years were the toughest, I almost gave up and was only going to focus on English at home but thankfully I didn’t give up. I exclusively speak French with her so she knows to ONLY speak it with me and my husband only speaks English with her. We live in japan so she speaks Japanese with her friends. That’s been working for us. There are billions of bilingual children out there, they learn fast and as long as you find a routine that works for you, it’ll work out in the end. Good luck.

I agree with Mina. I’ve not done it myself, but having each parent be designated a language is pretty common and effective. Baby speaks English to mom, Spanish to dad. Or something like that. My brother is intending to send his daughter to a french speaking only nursery, because his wife is french. And she’ll only be speaking french to baby. See if there are any specialty daycares around!
Also, there are TONS of bilingual books out there. Do a google search :)
