I hate tampons

Im sobbing at the moment because I tried using a tampon for the first time and I don’t know where to put it in. There is only one hole down there besides my a**hole but it doesn’t look how it is shown in the diagrams... the hole doesn’t open upwards it only opens slightly tilted sideways and is too small for a tampon to go inside?? I’m so confused and i was so excited to go in the pool today
