Anyone else have psycho mother-in-laws when it comes to your children? Im ready to snap.

Eliza

My MIL is a good woman, dont get me wrong. But I learned VERY quickly just how psycho of a grandma she can be while watching her w my now 12 year old step son. I've never agreed w how she spoiled, bought love, and pushed her way in, incidentally pushing others out. So when my son was born, I made sure I always kept her on a tight leash. She hasnt been as bad w my son as she has been and continues to be w my step son. but since I've been on bed rest w this pregnancy, my dh has had to rely on her help more. Leaving me w ZERO control on what happens in my sons daily life. In the last 3 weeks I've been on bed rest, I've seen her play the "mommy role". Shes trying to nix out his comforts of home and replace them w things at her house. She's spoiling him rotten. Asking if he wants to go "home" when he goes to her house, taking over the nicknames I have for him (hes nanas sunshine now instead of mommys sunshine), singing the songs that only I have sung to him etc... in all reality, I know we need her help. But the only help she offers is by keeping my son at her house, away from me.

Ex; my mom comes to my house so I can still be w my son. She helps take care of him, helps cook and clean when my dh works late for example. My MIL, only wants to take my son to her house.

This is making me insane! And I cant figure out if its her that's really bothering me or if its my issues relinquishing control that's maybe making it bigger than it is.

Does anyone else have a MIL like this? What do I do? I feel like she really needs to back off. My dh has to work this wk end and instead of sending my son to her house, im going to keep him and try and make due. I miss my son and I feel like im losing the connection we had. :(

Damn this freaking bed rest!! Anyone have any advice?
