Are you married?

Question

If you are married and had a chance to sit and have an open talk with someone who has sworn off marriage, would you try to change their mind? And what would you say to them?
Also, that someone -aka myself- is an open-minded person~
I'm not trying to force myself into wanting to get married, though I am curious about what others think of marriage. Maybe it'll shed some light.

I love being married I don't ever have to worry about going to bed alone, I can be myself and I know he still loves me, and I know I can rely on him for anything. I love waking up next to him, I'm not alone during holidays, and I know even in hard times we will work together to get threw anything and we have had some bad times and he's stuck by my side. Alot of people say it's just a piece of paper but it's so much more to me it's the commitment he made to me and to only me. it meant he was ready to step up and take care of me and also my kids from previous relationship. He wasn't playing games anymore it says to me he doesn't need anyone else. He and I are a team, it's us against the world. Plus it makes a difference in your tax returns lol

I personally believe that marriage is a long commitment to one another. It takes a lot to hold it together (communication, being sexually attracted to one another, etc.). But being married doesn't necessarily mean it will be a forever thing. People get divorced everyday. So, married or not.. It's really up to the people within the relationship to keep the flames burnt and the strings attached.  It's a paper of commitment.. A long term commitment.

Marriage is wonderful, but it can be hell if it is with the wrong person or at the wrong time. Both people have to be ready for that level of commitment.  It takes communication, unwavering trust and support, and the desire to work through all issues. My husband and I dated for a few months and left hating each other. 5 years later we reconnected and we just celebrated our anniversary. Taking the time to make sure you are ready is always a smart option.

I am married 6 years this year and am happy in my marriage however it is not my place to talk anyone else into getting married. I am completely open about my marriage, trials, and successes we have been through but my life is different than yours and hat works for me may not work for anyone else. I say you will get married if and when the time comes but don't force yourself if you are not comfortable.

While I am married and I love it, I won't change anyone's mind. My aunt Jack and Uncles Chris have been together for 13 years and they aren't married. My uncle Chris said and I quote "I don't need a paper to tell me that I love her". He says this every time someone asks him why he hasn't asked her to marry him. So while I love being married others have their preference. Some do wanna get married, others don't. Why try to change their minds? I see no point in it.

I would never try to change someone's mind about marriage (unless I wanted to marry them maybe??). That's their decision, their choice. 
Getting married was never a priority for me, but I did want to find love and a stable relationship with someone. 
I found that someone and was happy to marry him -- but I would have been just as happy "just" being together with him without the paperwork. :)

Marriage has never been high up on my to-do list. It seemed really pointless. I think if 2 people love each other unconditionally and are committed only to each other then a piece of paper wont change that... It took a great deal of convincing from my husband for me to take that plunge. I think I mainly did it because I do love him and its something that has made him very happy... I've been with my husband almost 5 years. We've been married for the last 2 and so far they've been just a great as the first 3 so I still don't see what the difference is but everyone is different. I wouldn't discourage anyone from getting married but I wouldn't push them in one either. Once you're married the break up ( should there be one) is more expensive

Personally I never thought I would marry. After watching my parents fight none stop. My husband stuck by me for 3 1/2 years waiting for me to finally say yes. We've been together 7 1/2 years now. Best decision I ever made. He's my best friend and my partner. I can be myself with him and he loves me no matter what through the good the bad and the ugly. But he would of loved me the same even if we were never married and just a couple. So marriage is to me just taking a new last name and striving to help the other to be the best they can be while not letting the bad destroy each other. I would never try to talk or push anyone into marriage cause it's there life not mine.

I think when you can find someone and not want to kill them when you've spent too much time with them...that's the one you marry. Everyone has faults, including you, so you have to be prepared and ready for your partner to not be perfect. You'll never find movie romance, but you will find someone who respects and loves you for you. That means you have to do the same. So many women get into relationships thinking that they can change the man or that one day he will change on his own. He won't. He is who he is and you are who you are. Find someone who appreciates that and vice versa. I never ever in a million years fantasized about being married. Five years later, married, happily, my life couldn't be better.
