What are common questions to ask when looking for the right pediatrician ?
New mommy... Please help me in complying questions to ask the pediatricians. We are currently searching for the perfect pediatrician for our LO.

I googled the heck out of our choice, and looked her up on vitals.com for reviews.
ask about after hours calling (who will answer, if you need to come in who will see you)
if you're worried about vaccination schedules ask about that,
ask if she's ever not in the office who you would see, 
I think those are the major ones. you can also Google a checklist for this

Vaccination policies- do they allow un vaccinated kids? Do they allow delayed schedules?
Sick v well area- do they have one
Do they have hospital privileges
Feeding- are the friendly to all feeding types (breast v formula v combo)- are they able to give unbiased advice for all
Average wait time before an appt
After hours line
Emergency availability
Are they available for sick checks? (Example, my peds office has 30 minutes open each hour for a same day / sick visit for each doctor. These slots don’t get scheduled unless it is a same day sick appt)

I did 6 interviews and went to those who got recommended by family/ other doctors. I ended up with someone I found. I asked about any of her specialization or interests in pediatric medicine (ours has mental development), her approaches on use of antibiotics, vaccinations, after hour care, hospital she affiliates with, lactation consulting, if baby rooms and appt are separate from older/sick kids. She loved the fact that we came prepared with all the questions and she brought up some that I missed. She isn’t a pushy doc, which is what I was looking for.

I feel like the best way to find out about a doctor is to be a part of their customers. They can look nice and answer questions, but until you arein there and being treated you never know what to expect.
My last pediatrician didn't want to do the shots on time and waited until I came up there and paid fir my appointment to tell me they didn't have the shots when they were already four months behind and i called multiple times to make sure they had it. Then when i switched to a new doctor i had to wait another six months because they didn't want to release the papers.

We just asked our friends who they recommended and at least 5 families recommended a specific pediatric clinic, and a couple specified a doctor... so we are going off of that. Happy patients are the most telling.

I asked on a mom page on Facebook in my area. I got really great recommendations that way. We love our pediatrician!! If you don’t have Facebook, just ask other moms you know! Even ask people you just met or run into and end up having small talk with while you’re out and about! Thats the best way to find a good doctor, word of mouth. People will bash a bad doctor and praise a great one without second thought!
