Gender blood test with twins?

My Dr asked me if I wanted to have the ultrasound and genetic blood test done and I said no. I didn't have it with any of my other 3 pregnancies. Then she told me well it will at least tell you the gender if you want to know early.  I'm having twins though and she said well it can atleast tell you what one of them is. Now I'm confused lol has anyone ever found out the gender of twins from a blood test? I've never heard of this before.

We had it done as there is a inherited genetic disorder on my husbands side. Also expecting twins. With multiples all it can do is detect if there's an Y chromosome. So if it sees none then both are girls and if it finds a Y then at least one, possibly both are boys. They detected a Y for us so I'm waiting on an ultrasound next week when I'm 17 weeks to tell us what we've got. Hoping to find a girl in there, I have two boys at home already.

I got it done when I had twins and they told me the gender of both of them. They look at the fetal DNA so if you only have XX then you're having girls, if you only have XY then you're having boys and if you have both you're having s boy and a girl. They aren't looking at your DNA they are looking at the fetal DNA running through your blood.

Yes it's 99% accurate there's different brands harmony,  materni21 etc. it should also be able to tell you about the risk of abnormalities like Down syndrome and it's so accurate because they can actually sequence the chromosomes
