Can I skip baking powder for cupcakes?

i bought everything except the baking powder and I'm trying out a recipe to make cupcakes except now I'm not sure what to do. it asked for 3tsp can I just skip it?

Unfortunately, you really do need the baking powder. It's what helps the batter rise. You cannot substitute baking soda either, as they work differently.

They're gonna be really heavy and dense. If you have baking soda you can substitute 1/4 tsp and 1/2 cup butter milk or another acidic liquid like yogurt or milk+lemon juice to partial substitute the liquid in the recipe. Or do baking soda+cream of tartar (1/4 tsp baking soda to 1/2 tsp cream of tartar)
Or whip some egg white and fold them in

You can not skip. I go to school for culinary and Everything has to be Exactly. Bc baking is a Science which I’m sure you have Been told before. Just go to a neighbor and Ask to borrow some if they have it. It’s easier then going back to the store. Unless they don’t then back to the store😐
