Where to install car seat?

I’ve heard both. What do you think?

I agree with checking your owners manual first. If it doesn’t specify, I was told the middle is the safest if it’s possible. If it’s not possible, I was told behind the passenger seat, so you’re not getting the child out of the car into traffic when parked along the road.

If you can, the middle. I have a van and don’t have a middle so the hospital said to put him behind the driver seat. That way do anything were to happen and I had to get him out fast, I wouldn’t have to fun around the car first.

What I’ve read is in an accident you’ll do what you can to protect yourself like swerve. So behind you would be safest. Then middle then passenger. 
And also the baby is right there,
You don’t have to walk around the car to access them.

I put my smallest behind me and my oldest behind passenger

In my car I cannot safely place a seat in the middle, so I placed him behind the passenger seat.  Easier for me to see him.

Middle if possible.. for me I got a tighter fit installing on the putter seats so I did behind passenger seat.. that way the baby is on the opposite side of oncoming traffic
