Enema?

Ok so my sil just told me not to eat before the Dr next week if I thought they may induce because they would give me an enema when I got to the hospital. Has anyone done this/heard of this?

Not sure but with my first baby I naturally started pooping constantly about two weeks out from birth. Your body starts to cleanse itself as it preps for labor

I am not sure if that is true. My water broke, but contractions didn’t come on, so I was given pitocin. They did not give me one. And they actually told me to eat before I got to the hospital. Once you check in, they won’t let you eat. I was starving a few hours after getting there.

I don’t know if not eating has anything to do with being offered, or getting, an enema. I had one with my last baby though because with previous ones I pooped during pushing and it’s a fear of mine, pooping again. The enema wasn’t bad. It doesn’t hurt and it’s not gross

I didn’t have to have an enema, and I really wish I had eaten prior to going in...my water ruptured at about 3:30am, so I hadn’t eaten in quite awhile, and ended up laboring for 36 hours after that, even with pitocin...I would eat unless the doc says otherwise.

Also with my first I went into labor and didn’t eat that morning and I was absolutely starving by the time I had the baby that night. It was terrible so I would at least eat something light so you don’t feel weak like I did
