So I recently was diagnosed with HSV1 I've never had an outbreak or symptoms of any kind and I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this also? I was freaked out because I don't know how long I've had it or anything and I'm trying to figure out how I should call and tell the people I've slept with that I have this.. if I have never had an outbreak of anykind and no symptoms should I call them or is it not a big deal.. I don't know what to do

I got a blood test done, because my long term bf and I broke up and I just wanted to know I was clean before I started to date again and it came back positive for HSV1 but I have never had an outbreak before or any symptoms like pain or redness on my genitals and I've only ever had a cold sore once or twice in my life. So I'm wondering if I have to tell people I know that sounds terrible, but if I don't do anything sexual while I have a coldsore I should be ok right, and my partner should be ok? I've been with several people and no one has ever contracted anything from me. I'm just confused as to if I should tell people or not all because I had a coldsore when I was 16

Did you get a blood test? Lots of people have HSV1. That’s what causes cold sores on the mouth. Unless you have kissed someone or performed oral sex with an open mouth sore you should be ok
