Would you use a name that has a negative connotation from your past if you truly loved it?

There is a name that DH and I like a lot. However in school I had a classmate with the same name and nickname who didn’t single me out to bully me but wasn’t my friend either. She was good friends with my bully and went out of her way to not be my friend and clearly thought that she was better than me. So if you were me, would you still use the name if you loved it or is that enough to say no to the name?

If the name still reminds you of that person, I wouldn't use it. If it happens to be the same name but doesn't trigger memories then why not

I would probably still use it, given the history you've described. Time has passed, and it's obviously not upsetting just to hear the name. Within a week of your baby having that name, any and all previous associations would fade to nothing.

I personally wouldn’t want to associate anything negative with my beautiful baby. Maybe use it for a pet if you really like it

I would still use it, personally I don't often think about people I didn't like or who were mean in school. You will grow to associate that name with your child, not the other person. But that's just me!
