Super scary dream

I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. In this dream we lived in a big city apartment. The power was out and I was scrounging around trying to find everything we needed for the dogs and baby for this unsaid emergency. But when it got time for the cats I didn't know what to do for them. The question was if I should lock them in the house and hope they don't die inside or leave a door open for them so they could get out and maybe survive. Why didn't I take them with? It was super scary...
