Kids on leashes??

Question

What do yall think about putting your kids on leashes? Personally I don't think it's a bad idea, you just having more control of your kids right? Doesn't mean u treating them like dogs

I used to be like most and say I would never, until my child got to the stage where he started darting away from me because he thought it was a game.  He was about 2 1/2.  It's easy to judgmentally say "my child's not a dog", but I was truly scared he would do this at the wrong time and get lost or hit by a car.  Of course he would laugh about it, as he was too young to understand.  I got him a cute Monkey one that he would play with even after he stopped his "darting" away from me game.

He did it in retail stores, supermarkets etc. My motto as a mother is "better safe than sorry". So for those who threw out judgmental comments, think before you speak.  Parenting isn't fluid.  Definitely isn't a "one size fits all"

I understand that kids like to do crazy things and go running away at random times and keeping them on a leash can help but I look at it as the parents are treating their kid like an animal.

Lol well we strap them in carseats and strap them in strollers and put them in cribs they can't get out of. Why? For their safety. I love and my daughter loves putting her "backpack" on cause it gives her the freedom to walk on her on and mommy the peace of mind. And! She's not having to raise and strech her arm up all uncomfortable to hold mommy or.daddys hand

My mom used one with my brother when he was 3-6 years old. He turned out perfectly normal. Didn't get hit by a car or kidnapped.  He was also hyperactive so by using the leash--he could be safe yet wear him out. If she would have pushed him in a stroller then, when we'd get home he'd still have tons of energy. Bone density is built with walking too.

I get it especially in a crowded area.  I was  against it until my oldest got away from me at the mall when she was two.  She walked into a crowd & I couldn't see her I freaked out.  Now with my second I will use one.  It's better than your child getting lost or worse kidnapped.  We don't live in a safe world anymore.

My sister got one after she got lost at the state fair when she was 2.5. We found her with the farm animals, laying next to a potbellied pig!! After that, the leash was a huge comfort.

I remember no joke going to Disney land at like 4 yrs old my mom put one on me. I felt weird with it yet ok cause I was like its a bag with all my stuff and now that I'm TTC if I went to somewhere like that I would put one on my child. No babies getting abducted or running from me.

I was a leashed child.  With good reason lol! My mom hated doing it and was so embarrassed. And I hated it but even that young I knew why lol. I always wandered off. Thought I was so darn sneaky. They got tired of having security and police looking for me 😂

If you're in a crowded place and your child is one that doesn't listen well and likes to run off places then it's a good thing. Or if you're in like Disneyland it would be good because you never know when a sicko might try and grab a child.
