How often to bathe a newborn?

First time mommy here and was wondering how often did you bathe your babies? Ive heard everyday or every other day. I'm just curious to whats the best option....

I was told by the doctors and nurses at the hospital that newborns dont really need baths, but if you really feel the need to wash them it's best to only use a wet washcloth to wipe them down until the umbilical stump fully falls off and everything is healed. It's very important not to get the stump wet! After that it's still not really necessary to bathe them super frequently. Once a week is probably sufficient until they are a bit bigger and moving around a bit more, and probably no more than every other day of you really feel the need. Newborns have very sensitive skin and too much bathing can dry it out and cause irritation.

I know it's not recommened but I bathe my baby everyday. I personally think it's gross not to. Babies pee and poop in their diapers and spit up all over themselves. I always use lotion after a bath and haven't had any problems with dry skin with any of my kids.

Every other day when he was a newborn, starting at about 9 months I started doing every 3rd day, unless he got really dirty, so I don't dry out his sensitive skin.

They really only need baths when they’re dirty. It’s more of a spot clean situation and maybe once a week a proper sponge bath on the counter.

Im still pregnant with my first but i been with my mom through her pregnancies and doctors always say babies don't really need baths when they're newborn. That's it's better to just wipe them down and only bathe them when they get messy

My mom bathed my sister about once a week as a newborn because she had a soap allergy and very sensitive dry skin. If my sister was dirty any time in between she’d just stick her in the shower with my stepdad (her bio dad) for a few minutes. Newborns don’t need much bathing, she just turned 6 and takes a bath every other day or so, depending on her daily activities. Definitely bathes more in the summer than the winter.

at 5 days old my dr said wait 3 days for stump to heal.  it fell off and she applied silver nitrate or something.  she said I can wash her hair or wipe her body down if I want. she didn't recommend lotions bc babies skin needs to fall off anyway

Everyday for us. She was quite short. As she put on weight, she got tiny little rolls. Those things get so dirty, so fast😂
