Anyone else’s man a workaholic?

Question

How do you deal with it? Don’t want to send the relationship but don’t want to nag him because that gets us nowhere. Been three weeks since I’ve seen him.

7 days a week my man works. Finding the time between my two jobs and his two jobs is tough (we don’t live together yet I’m 22, he’s 24). But we make it work somehow! I constantly remind myself how he’s doing this for us and our future. It helps but that’s how I stay busy with work, too.

I think a lot of men have the idea that it’s their job to provide for their families, my husband is the same way. He hates working so he knows he needs to do as much of it now while we are young so that when we get older we can slow down and enjoy the life we’ve built for ourselves.

I wish. I see why a lot of women complain about their men putting so much focus on work, but they also don’t see how much of a blessing it is. You see, you could end up on the other side of things like me. My husband refuses to work. Can’t keep a job to save his life. He finds some reason to quit every single job and says he just can’t do it because he can’t be told what to do and can’t stand being looked down on by his superiors. He also refuses to let me get a job, because he says I have to be with out 8 month old son all the time because he doesn’t like other people and my husband doesn’t trust anyone else to watch him. So you could be in your situation with a hard working husband who provides for you and your family and think poor you, or you can be thankful you don’t have zero income with a baby and aren’t living in your grandmas old house that they’re trying to sell and living off government assistance, family help, and the occasional job income from when your husband just happens to keep a job for a few weeks.

My fiancé and I both work a lot, but I’m definitely the worse workaholic. I work on-call and if a patient of mine is in the hospital then I’m often in and out on weekends and evenings/nights too. My fiancé works two weeks here and then two weeks away so he’s gone a lot. We try to schedule my on-call shifts for when he’s gone, by that doesn’t always work. We’ll go weeks without seeing each other (we don’t live together either so seeing each other is harder). It’s not too big a deal for us as we did long distance for 5 years prior so this is an improvement. 
We try to get together for lunch or dinner usually. That seems to work for us. The person not working just brings lunch to the other persons place of work on their break. Both of us need to eat so that generally works better than trying to plan a proper date. We’ll stay over at each other’s place too when possible as well. We actually sit down together every month with our schedules and find times we can fit each other in. It’s pretty brutal, but we don’t really have another choice at the moment. 
We both need to work and while our working conditions aren’t ideal we need to put this time in now for our futures. Once we’ve done the crappy times our careers will be stable, not such long and crazy hours and better pay. We’ll both also be doing what we love. So it’ll pay off in the end for not just our careers but for our life together as well.

My man continues to tell me he needs to work in order for us to enjoy life later on. It’s extremely hard, it’s all work work work but we still see each other on weekends.
It’s been three weeks I feel as this is too long, why can’t he see you at least once a week??
