When is the right time to have a baby shower

When is the right time to have a baby shower? Should you have it early in the pregnancy, late in the pregnancy, after the baby is born? How far along where you when you had your baby shower?

My family has a tradition of showers being a surprise so I don’t know when mine will be. But I requested with my mom that it be about 1 month before I’m due so we have time to set things up, buy things we still need and not worry about time.

Most people wait till they hit 7 months so 28weeks and up but it’s not a rule so whenever you want it lol

Everything I’ve read and everyone I’ve asked has said about 32 weeks. So, that’s when I’m having mine!

I’m doing mine around 30 weeks. My mom and grandmother both had all of their children at 36-37 weeks so I’m likely to not make it to the full 40 weeks. Plus I don’t want to be miserable.

I think the ideal time is between 26-34 weeks. During that time you still have lots of energy, but you’ve got a cute enough bump to show off in all of your pictures! Too early isn’t as fun because your bump will be small, but too late isn’t fun because 1) you’re uncomfortable and 2) You won’t have as much time or energy to make all of your returns and exchanges before the baby arrives. Also, if you’re planning to use your completion discount for your registry, it doesn’t leave you as much time to buy the rest of your items and set up your nursery. 
I had mine when I was one day shy of 34 weeks. It worked out in the end, but it was a little stressful because I waited to buy everything until after my shower. I used my completion discounts at Babies R Us (before they went bankrupt) and Amazon to get 15% off all of my remaining items. It saved us several hundreds of dollars so it was worth it, but some of my items didn’t arrive until I was almost 38 weeks, which meant my husband and I were putting together our crib and dresser just days before the baby arrived.
