Where do I start?

The time has come. I need to see a doctor. We’ve been trying for baby number two for almost 3 years.

I wanna get checked out. But where do I start? Do I get a general physical & if they see something off they refer me to a specialist? 
Is a fertility doctor the same as an OB?

Do you have an obgyn already? If so, start there. They will likely recommend a series of tests first. My OB did a thyroid test and an HSG test, as well as something else I can't remember before referring me to a fertility specialist. 
The specialist did a manual exam, an internal ultrasound, laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis, a sperm analysis, tests for progesterone and egg  reserve levels, and, most recently, recommended trigger shots. Depending on your situation, your specialist may recommend at least some of these tests and procedures.
