To tell or not to tell!?!!???

Our 8 wk 6 day FIRST scan and appointment is coming up on Thursday. We haven’t told our families yet and my husband is starting to bug out (he cannot keep secrets.) He really wants to tell his parents this weekend before the scan.

I originally had said we will wait until we hear a heartbeat. But he’s so adamant. His parents are leaving on a trip so we won’t be able to tell them until almost 11 weeks. He thinks his parents feelings will be hurt because we waited so long. I said this isn’t about his parents, it’s about us. I get where he’s coming from and he gets where I’m coming from. I’m just so torn :/

On one hand it’d be great to stop faking behaviors and be honest (it’s our towns festival this weekend...I’m always a drinker at events so it’s been a task trying to fake that one) but on the other hand I’ve googled and read too many horror stories on here about not hearing a heartbeat at the first appt.

Edit: he also thought it’d be great timing as it was his dads birthday and this would be his “gift”.
