Tums and Vitamin D?

Question

My husband and I met with our fertility specialist today. Currently the plan is to try IUI for a couple of cycles, before moving forward with IVF.
He told me to continue taking a prenatal, but to also start taking Tums (for calcium) and 2000u of Vitamin D. However, he did not really go into detail oh how I should be taking the Tums and Vitamin D. 
Has anyone else taking this combination of supplements?

I'm currently taking vitamin D on doctors orders. I just take them at night with my prenatal and baby aspirin

If you are taking tums for the calcium, don't take it with food or meals. If you do the calcium binds to the phosphorus in your food and does nothing for your calcium. Take the tums on an empty stomach. No specific timing for vitamin d
