Diaper genie?

We have a 2 story home and will be diapering wherever we are. I’m not going to walk upstairs just to change a diaper but if we’re up there i want a station ready. So should I even get a genie? I was thinking to just use dog poop bags to tie up a stinky diaper for the trash. Idk what to do they seem convenient but I don’t want 2 of them.

I have a genie. It was a complete waste of money! We use $9.99 plastic garbages with a normal lid and garbage bag. Honestly newborn poop doesn’t smell at all, and if you wrap the diapers when you throw them out a normal fabreeze garbage bag works fine. We have one upstairs one downstairs. We change the bag once a week on garbage day. We don’t have any smell issues, I literally ask every person who walks in my house to make sure, all have confirmed they smell nothing so I am not ‘nose blind’ lol

We have two diaper pails. A regular sized Diaper Dekor and a Mini size. The bigger one is in the nursery upstairs and the smaller one is in our downstairs bathroom. We had a second diaper changing station there, a pad, wipes, diaper rash cream.

I love my Dekor! I only have to empty it twice a week. My EBF baby’s poop definitely does stink... I know the pail works bc I can definitely get a whiff of stink when I put a new diaper in.

I had a diaper genie but it started to stink so bad I threw it in the trash and started using doggie poop bags. That has worked out so much better. And I was using the charcoal filters too for the genie and it didn’t help at all.

I would have one upstairs to save you from the smell, and use the dog poop bags downstairs and just place in the kitchen trash can.  That’s what my SIL did.

We have five diaper pails (Ubbi Diaper Pail, Dekor Plus Diaper Pail, Munchkin Step Diaper Pail, Playtex Diaper Genie, and Tommee Tippee Simplee Diaper Pail). I hate the genie. We have them scattered throughout our home. The Ubbi and Genie is upstairs in our home. The Ubbi is in her nursery (it's pink and matched her nursery decor perfectly) and the genie is in our bedroom. It was convenient when she slept in her Halo in our bedroom. Now, it's not really needed. The others are downstairs, which is where she and I spend our day while hubby is working. The Dekor is in our living room, the Munchkin is in my office, and the Tommee Tippee is in our daughter's playroom. I suggest having multiple pails throughout the home. However, I do not suggest the diaper genie. I hate it, but I know some people who love them. Ubbi and Dekor are the best!

I would just get a Dekor for both floors. Yard sale sites on FB often have them for about $10. A new bag every change is a total waste of money and diaper garbage already takes 500 years to decompose.

I definitely recommend getting a diaper pail for your baby’s nursery upstairs. We have a 2-story home as well and we only have one diaper pail upstairs. It’s in my son’s nursery next to his changing table, and it’s where he sleeps so it’s important that it doesn’t smell. When he has a solid diaper I wrap it in an extra diaper bag (we use small bags meant for smelly trash because they’re the only ones I could find that weren’t scented) for extra smell protection. When I change my son downstairs I just use the main kitchen trash can, which gets taken out every other day, sometimes more. We have an Ubbi diaper pail, which I cannot recommend enough. It doesn’t require special bags and it’s made of steel, so even after 10 months it smells as fresh as the day I bought it.
