I was induced with my first at 42 weeks and we arrived at the hospital at 5am. Sometime later they had to insert a fuley bulb because I wasn't dilated- and the nurse/intern who did it pulled on it by accident and it was super painful. Instant tears- so she went and got me some pain meds that knocked me out in less than 30 seconds. My husband, mother and mother in law were in the room with me the whole time. (this time we arent allowing anyone but him and I at the hospital- even after baby is born) Sometime that night the midwife broke my water- which completely flooded the bed. I wasn't expecting so much water to come out, it was insane the amount that came out. Around 4am they turned off the epidural and the meds to stop the induction so I could eat since you arent allowed to eat the night before you go in- and it had been over 24 hrs since my last meal and drink (they only let you have ice chips-no water or other fluids). after 4 hours they started it all up again and I had my baby girl at 4:20pm- 31 hours after labor started. some things we are doing differently this time- no epidural. If I find I want pain meds I am going to ask what other options they have. I know they can give pain meds through the IV instead of epidural. My epidural was turned up so high I couldnt move my toes, or adjust my body at all to relieve the pain. I was so frustrated that I couldn't even roll into my side that I started to cry. No family or friends allowed until we get home-after labor I was so tired and everyone showed up and were so loud and made me stress out so bad I developed a fever and had to stay an additional 3 days. Things to remember that will happen if you have a vaginal birth: your vagina will SWELL to look like a grapefruit. freaked me out. also your stomach may "deflate" like mine did-it looked like a flabby flat tire. I flapped it around in horror and showed my husband like Wtf is this!? lmao. ummm... labor was a pain but the pushing part was surprisingly easy. I tore and needed stitches- but It was so easy I was talking to my doctor calmly between pushes. You got this!
