anyone else's husband going through something...?

so I've heard stories about men freaking out right before the baby comes... like...
a girl I work with, her boyfriend had a full blown panic attack about being a "good dad" a week before her baby was due and she caught him crying in the shower and had to take him to the ER.
well my husband isn't freaking out like that BUT he's been acting so... different. he's been buying guns, tactical gear, end of the world type stuff bc he needs to "protect everyone" now and "be prepared for anything". he even bought himself a tactical diaper bag. I'm not sure what to think...
anyone else's husband/boyfriend/SO have some kind of episode like this go on before the baby came?

I won’t worry if your husband wants a more manly diaper bag. If men didn’t then companies such as Tactical Baby gear and Dad Gear wouldn’t exist. Most of the men I know would prefer something like that over something that looks like a women’s purse. 
As for cleaning or being concerned about security systems, I would find both normal as well. Men, in their traditional role, are the family protectors. Prepping for emergencies, purchasing firearms, and enhancing security system are modern ways of fulfilling that protector role. 
In my case, my husband read up on car seat safety, measured all prospective crib slats, weighted furniture to ensure it can’t tip over, and uped our life insurance. Of course, some of the other things were already well covered. 
Just remember that men prepare for a baby differently and embrace it. We made lists for everything that needed to be done and he picked the projects that he felt were most important to him. Now I can decorate the nursery and he installs the car seat. Regardless this baby boy will be loved.

My hubby has been cleaning more, wants a tactical diaper bag, changed the alarm system on our house & shoots up out of his sleep asking me what’s wrong every time I get up to go to the bathroom.

Sounds like your husband is nesting 😂 that wouldn’t worry me, I’m a super over protective mama so I can relate to your husband. Is he an Aries? Lol I’m told Aries are overprotective parents (I don’t even usually believe in all the astronomy stuff)

Mine has been drinking and staying up for days without sleeping 😬 He says he's too nervous and can't sleep so he just keeps cleaning the house and the yard. I like the cleaning but I don't like the drinking and the fact that he'll go 48+ hours without sleeping. It makes me stress out worrying that he'll he passed out or have alcohol in his system when I go into labor and need him. When I plead with him to sleep, he says I'm being controlling 🙄 I guess all guys respond differently to the stress of becoming a father. I for one hope it stops soon though. It's driving me crazy!!

My husband started having bad panic attacks a few months into me being pregnant with my first. To the point where he thought he was having a heart attack one day. He denied that the baby was causing any stress for him. He went to a therapist to help with exercises that helped a lot and miraculously after our daughter was born he stopped having them. I know it was the anxiety about me delivering and a new baby.

Nothing too crazy. Mine has just been picking up after himself and actually cleaning very well without me asking him too. And he said that he wanted to go through all his t-shirts (he has a lot of t-shirts) before the arrival of our daughter and get rid of some. 
~we’ve been together since we were 18 and 21. I just turned 24 yesterday and he is turning 27 on Monday. He hasn’t always been the best with details when it comes to cleaning things (think about when you do dishes, you wipe the sink down after) so that’s part of the reason it’s very noticeable. So either it’s 1) my man is finally growing up 😢😢😂 2) he’s tired of my nagging about detailed cleaning 3) it is a part of his nesting~ which if it’s the nesting thing, that’s kind of cool, I think

My husband had. A panic attack around week 20, when we were finding four what we were having. We are having s little girl and we were both wanting a baby boy, so I think the idea of being a father to a little girl, plus just the reality of becoming a father especially when he didn’t have a very good role model for one was freaking him out. He is much better now. But he definitely has a tactical diaper bag! It’s hilarious really.

I took my husband to the er about 2 months ago with chest pain and tightness! His heart was fine, Dr thinks it's stress/anxiety.. Not just the baby coming but running a business and Renos being done on our house... all playing into it.
