So i’m staying with my aunt and uncle for the weekend about 4 hours from home. They explained to us that they have this neighbor who was given a dog when another neighbor was moving out of the country. He isn’t a dog or animal person and agreed to kee the dog because he was friends with the people, but has left the dog out front all alone 24/7. No collar, no toys, doesnt get played with or even pet. Just has food and water left out for him. You can see the sadness and complete desperation for love in this dogs eyes. I can’t stop crying over it. Part of me wants to go to their door and nicely tell them i mean no offense, but would like to know if they are willing to give him up to us. I’m very afraid of offending them or causing trouble somehow, but my heart is aching for this dog. What would you do?

Fyi, The dog is not abused and seems perfectly healthy, just kind of neglected and unloved.
