Period cramps abnormally painful?

So I was on birth control for 5 years and I got off about 4 months ago. The last 3 years I was on the birth control it made my period disappear completely which my doctor said was totally fine and can happen to some women who go on birth control. Ever since Ive been off Ive obviously gotten my period back but I have INSANE cramps, even when im not on my period. I experience sharp cramps and lower back pain every other day and when I use the bathroom since ive been off the pill. When im on my period the cramps are so painful I can hardly go on with my day. Has anyone whos gotten off the pill experienced this before???
