Is it possible for someone who isn't white to be racist?

So I recently got into a debate with a black man who said only white people could be racist, and that other races are incapable of being racist. Basically, he said racism is a white people only thing. I disagree. What do you all think?

Okay so someone can be prejudice against a white person due to their racism. But to me, racism is a lot more than that. It’s systematic meaning it’s ingrained and woven into society very deeply. So in the US, no. They can be prejudice, but not racist. A black person hating white people isn’t going to affect my life that greatly. White people are the ones in power and they are the majority race and have been. (Yes I know Obama’s was black but one black president doesn’t fix the rooted racism in america)

There is institutional racism and individual racism. And the answer is complex for both. Nothing is a simple yes or no question when it comes to racism and prejudice.

Racism isn’t limited to just white people. Anyone can be racist to anyone. Just recently an elderly Mexican man was beaten up by a black woman on his way to visit his family and she was shouting at him to go back to his country, so racism knows no bounds.

Him saying that he probably just meant like for example black people have nothing. White people control everything from politics to education. So systematically me a blank woman being racist to you wouldn’t effect you in a sense of putting you in low income, high risk areas with bad schools. Or how lots of black communities happen to be put in food desserts. White people being in control of everything puts them in a position of power so they can truly effect the lives of those as they have who they are racist against.

I think that if we’re using the logic of “racism=prejudice plus power”, it’s still possible for people of color to be racist. That would be more towards other POC than towards whites using that definition. 
Any human being can be prejudiced and hold prejudiced ideas about any other human being. Some situations put groups of people at an advantage over other groups of people, like the examples my class got in college about Asian people being perceived as more trustworthy in financial institutions than black people. (The example was two men presenting plans for the exact same business loan and the prejudice showing as the deciding factor. I don’t remember the study or experiment’s name, sorry!)
In that situation, an Asian person with prejudiced notions also holds power than can be wielded to their advantage, so that may be categorized as racism.

Anyone can be racist! Saying that it’s only a white thing is racist in itself! EVERYONE should grow up and treat EVERYONE with the same respect that they might treat their own race. Idk, just my thoughts 🤷‍♀️
