Cloth Diapers?

Question

Anyone use these before. I’m pregnant and will be a first time mom. Im thinking about trying cloth diapers but I’ve never seen them used and don’t know anyone who’s used them. My family thinks I’m crazy for even thinking about doing this but diapers are expensive. What are some good Brands? Pros and cons? How many to get? And how do you personally use them?

I currently have two in cloth and absolutely love it! We started when our first son was 2weeks old and then from birth with our second son. They are now 2.5 and 17weeks.

I found these really helpful when I was first learning all about them and starting out. ObbsandLala though really goes into great detail and explains everything so well, so it's easy to understand.
Because every baby and every diaper is make differently, there is no one "best" cloth diaper. It's recommended to but at least one of few different brands and styles to really get a feel for what you like and what will work best for you before investing in an entire stash of one brand or style. What you think you might like, may turn out to be something that doesn't work for you or baby at all.

•Mama Koala (these are very similar to the more expensive popular Bungenius brand)
•Glow Bugs
•Elf (these are another similar brand to Bumgenius)
•Green Mountain Diapers (Flats, prefolds and fitteds)
•Happybeehinds sells affordable diaper covers
The amount of diapers you'll need depends on how often you plan on washing. 24 is a good number to go every other day between washes. The older baby gets, the less diapers they use in a single day.

bumgenius!! they can be adjusted a thousand ways thehbcomw with 2 different liners and blowouts are almost unheard of. 3 people in my family use them. cloth diapers have changed since  our parents knew about them. they go in the wash they go in the dryer they have snaps instead of pins. I showed my mom our cloth diapers becuase she thought I was crazy too and now she's convinced. originally I was gonna send the baby with disposables so my mom didn't have to "deal" with cloth but now she says send em becuase they're so easy to use

I absolutely loved my funky fluff diapers, they fit 8-40 lbs and the same brand even has cloth swim diapers!! My sons potty trained now but they were awesome and he never leaked.

I mainly use cloth diapers with my now almost 2 year old. I bought alva baby because they're super cheap. I got 20 for less than 200 dollars. I really like them although they didnt fit him when he was newborn very well. I bought some newborn diapers to try on the baby I'm due with in Sept. I'm super excited. I think they are really easy to use, not too much different from disposables. and I wash them pretty much the same as regular clothes. regular tide detergent, with an extra rinse but no softener.

we have a 5 month old and a 2 month old. both in cloth. they can save you money and you'll never run out as long as you're washing in time! I dont save money because I like to buy all the cute prints.... but overall, way cheaper. no chemicals. can change the absorption to suit your babe... love them!!!

I honestly don’t see a huge point unless your baby has excema or some kind of allergy to disposables. The decent ones are 20-30 a piece PLUS everytime it’s soiled, the whole thing is soiled cause the insert is inside the diaper. I think using prefolds with a cover makes more sense/costs effective but they don’t work as well. 
When my kids were newborns we were going through 20/30 diapers a day since my daughter would pee like...one time and feel irritated/couldn’t stand to be wet. Or I’d be changing her, and she would poop right on the clean diaper🙄 
Using a service in my area is just as expensive as buying disposables.

We’ll be doing cloth but with a service. Two of my sisters used a service - makes it super easy to do.
