Have you chosen a car seat?

Question

I was looking into Chicco and Britax. Chicco reviews said the sunshade is ridiculously small and britax reviews said its super heavy by itself and too narrow for a chubby baby. One lady said she was having to buy a new car seat for her 10 week old. 
Suggestions? What are you looking into?

I had the chicco key fit 30 and my sun shade was more than large enough for my son. He stayed in there until he was about 15/16 monthsI now have him in the chicco nexfit zip air. He loves it! We now have a sunshade over our window to block the sun and it does an amazing job. We were going to get the britax by it was hard as a rock when we felt it and we thought the memory foam feeling of the chicco would be more beneficial.

Rest assured mama, there are no actual safety ratings! All seats are out through the same testing - if they pass, they go on the market, if they don’t then they aren’t. Unfortunately though testing data isn’t released to the public. 
Personally I had both seats. I absolutely HATED the Britax. There’s no way my average sized son would’ve lasted in it for the 9 mo he did in the Chicco. The Chicco Keyfit Magic and Zip models have extended canopy’s that are MUCH larger too.

Like another commenter said, d they are being sold in stores they have passed the tests for safety. Never ever buy used unless it is someone you know and they have never been in an accident. There are many things you can buy used, car seat should not be it as one accident wrecks the warranty on any car seat and you can no longer be sure if it’s safety capacity then.
My personal plan is to do Chico key fit for the infant seat and switch to the britax convertible for baby girl for the rest f the time. I get the easier transport of lugging a lighter baby car seat around in the beginning and the higher start ratings and features when she is more mobile/ older. 
I also took time to research what car seats worked best with my car type.
My husband and I both swear by our Prius hatchbacks . I do not plan on buying a minivan just to tote my kid around so it was important to me to find the car seats that would fit comfortably and also get installed easily in a smaller vehicle.

I’m looking in to buying the Chicco fit2. Or a chicco brand. My sister and cousin both used chicco for all of their kids and they loved it. They weren’t too heavy either.

chicco is amazing and easy to install. we had the carrier and now have the upright (cant think of what it's called lol).

LOVED my chico key fit 30. it was light enough ( no car seat is really  light but I have held heavier ones) I loved clicking it into the bases and a super light stroller. using it again for baby number 2 and can't wait.  there is no perfect carseat every one will have SOMETHING to pick on about  any kind of thing you ask about. they sun shade was never really an issue  for me but if the sun was in my daughter's eyes I just lowered her cover a little bit.

I will always use britax for my children because of the safety ratings. Compared to a chicco keyfit it’s barely heavier. My son was always a chunky baby and he did grow out of the infant seat when he was 8 months old but by that time he was able to sit up by himself and didn’t really need to be sat in his car seat whenever we went out.
