What size diapers?

So I’m trying to prepare and buy some diapers ahead of baby’s arrival. I received a few small packages of diapers size newborn, 1 and 2 but I’m wondering should I stock up on a big box of newborn diapers or do most babies fit into size 1 right away? What have your experiences been and what are you ladies doing?

My son was 7lb 10oz at birth. He wore newborn for a month, size 1 for 6 months, size 2 for 6 months, and size 3 for 6 months. He just turned 2 last month and has been wearing size 4 for almost a year. We will advance to size 5 in the next month. 
So, I would just wait to buy anything. See how big your baby is and how he/she is shaped. Big thighs require you to jump up in size quicker. My son has a small waist, so we didn’t size up quickly.

I would suggest buying bigger sizes like 2s and 3s because those come in handy when you realize that you need to size up and can’t get to the store for whatever reason. My second daughter stayed in NB for so long then after that grew so fast that we were constantly upping her size. She’s 21 months now and is in size 6. My first daughter stayed in size 3 for almost a year, so like everyone has said you never really know until the baby gets here.

Most stores will let you exchange sizes so get whatever size you want and keep the receipts. We got a bunch of diapers for our baby shower with our daughter. Some didn't have gift receipts so we used those ones first. the ones with receipts we kept.
We bought a box every time we went grocery shopping (ranging from size 1-3) and so we had quite a stockpile before she was born. We didn't have to buy diapers again until she was 18 months.

Newborn diapers typically have a lower front which accommodates the umbilical cord. I’d have a supply for a few weeks on that.

I used new born diapers for less than a week. Size one for a month  size two for a month lol size three for a month and size four for a month as well lol my son is currently 19 months and wears size 5. Every month he went up a size until we got to size 5 at about 6 months lol

There's really no way to predict how fast they'll grow out of diapers or even what size they can wear when they're born. All babies are so different. Not to mention you never know if your baby will happen to be sensitive to a certain brand. I'd suggest just getting gift cards for where you'll be buying your diapers so you'll have the money set aside and you won't have to exchange sizes if your baby grows faster than expected or have boxes of diapers taking up space. You can just buy the right sizes as you need them. ☺

My daughter only wore NB for like a week, I wouldn't buy a lot of newborn. More size 1 & 2 depending on how chunky your little one is

my oldest never even touched nb the hospital went searching around for size 1. he was in size 1 for less than a month size 2 for 2 boxes then 3 ect continuing that trend till at a year old i was buying him pull ups to fit his big butt. my 2nd was close to the same. my 3rd was my little girl literally lol. she wore nb for over a month probably almost 2 months she is 21 months today and just hit size 5 a month ago. if you buy nb try to keep the receipt to exchange as needed

all babies are different lol my son was in newborn for awhile then 1s for awhile  2s only a month or two and 3 for awhile hes not 2 .5 years (working in potty training) and in size 4s lol my son only weighs 27 pds and was born at 6 even
