small baby?

I am currently 28 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with symmetrical IUGR. At 24 weeks I was at the 12th percentile and now I am at the 7th percentile.. I have been on Google since I found out. I want to know what's going on with my little baby. I have seen some pretty scary stories.. I'm just wondering if any other mommas have been through this. Also any mommas that have. When did you get induced? Was it a natural birth or C-section? Is there anything I should look for? Any concerns?

Hi I’m almost 30 weeks I have low Papp a which indicated issue with placenta and small baby at my 28 week growth scan she was 2lb and below 10 centile I’m bk at 32 weeks they have said if not much growth will deliver I have to have c section I’ve already hd steroids to prepare for lungs good luck keep us posted. X

Hi Momma! We were diagnosed with IUGR at 20 weeks in the 3rd percentile. I know it’s impossible not to worry but, after being on this journey for almost 2 and a half months, my biggest advice is don’t google! Doctors are often incredibly vague about IUGR and unfortunately most women assume their diagnosis from google without much direction from their doctor and there’s a lot of crazy info out there. I would recommend cruising the IUGR board on babycenter as those ladies are super supportive and informative! If baby is measuring small, especially this far along, the MAIN concern is that baby continues growing, no matter how small that growth is between scans! This is a “wait and see” kind of complication which can be frustrating but, there’s no way to control it (increased protein is not proven to help), your doctor will just continue monitoring growth to make sure baby hasn’t stopped growing ENTIRELY, that is really the only time they’ll start discussing delivery early. Also, growth estimates can change from scan to scan- if they notice absolutely no growth, they’ll usually wait for a second scan with no growth to confirm before jumping right to delivery. The best news is that you’ve already reached viability (24 weeks) which means if baby does have to come out, chances of survival are great- doctors wouldn’t even discuss our little girl’s course of action until they were sure she would make it to 24 weeks. 
18 weeks- 8th percentile 
20-24- 3rd percentile 
26 weeks- 6th percentile 
28 weeks- 12th percentile 
That was our girl’s progression, we just got out of IUGR territory after 10 weeks but this is so unpredictable we could be back at anytime. Like I said, I know it’s impossible not to worry but stay off google and take it one growth scan at a time. I’m sure your docs will be monitoring you super close and that’s really all they can do. Hang in there and keep the stress minimal for you and baby. 💖
