Why won’t my dr do blood test?

I called my obgyn to get blood test done and said I’m having pregnancy symtoms and 11 days late for my period and they will only do regular pregnancy test! What do you think is the case??

I had blood work done because there is more than pregnancy that can delay your period. Most common is hypothyroidism. Most places will do blood work just to rule out any issues. If no issues are found they will then send you at 8 weeks without a period to have an ultrasound to confirm that everything is ok. If that’s fine, then they’ll induce a period at 12 weeks without one. At any rate, if your ob hasn’t offered to do blood work to rule out other problems, i would find a more responsible ob practice.

Mine won’t either unless I start spotting. Said my insurance will not pay for a blood test and an early ultrasound to confirm pregnancy and he would rather see heartbeat at 7/8!weeks
