Is getting acrylic nails bad for meat age 12?

I’m 12 years old. And I’m planning to get acrylic nails. Me and my friends are all going. I’ve been reading about how it damages nail beds. What advice would you give to me about having them done. Firstly is is painful? Is it painful to have out on. How long do they last? And is it true that if I get them once it will affect my nail health? Please tell me.

I had mine done for my junior prom! Worst decision ever! My nails were brittle and peeling for about 6 months afterwards!! Everyone’s nails are different but I don’t know anyone who has had good experiences with them, maybe if they do them every 2 weeks, and get them refilled... but once they are off your nails are unhealthy! Just get a nice polish done...

Pay to have them removed at the nail salon and it will save your nails so much damage. Length wise depends on how fast your nails grow and the nail style you pick. A French manicure will last longer than colorful nails

If you don’t bite your nails or they are already long I would honestly just get them painted. No they don’t hurt but they do damage your nails and cost you about $40. For me they last a few weeks but I don’t get them taken off at the nail salon so after they come off my nails are super thin and break off easily.

They usually leave my fingertips sore when i get them but yes getting them done once will weaken your nails.

These are all great questions, and I would recommend asking the nail technician doing your acrylics. I’ve been doing mine at home for special occasions since I was 11, so I don’t really know the process of actually getting them done 🤷‍♀️ But if you get high quality ones they stay on for at least a week as long as you don’t do boxing or something that requires you to put stress on them for a long time.
