Does my toe look broken?

Question

so i accidentally kicked something a few hours ago really hard and it hurt like hell. and now its really purple in a line. i can stand on my foot but it hurts. especially if i try to move it upwards (to take a picture of it). Does it sound like its broken or is it just a bruise? I know probably none of y'all are doctors just hoping that some of you have had a broken toe and can tell me what it looked/felt like. TIA😊

I have broken several toes & my foot...while there isn't much that can be done for a broken toe, my orthopaedic doctor told me that as a "rule of thumb" if you hit your toe hard enough to have a large bruise, then it's broken. The way he explained it, the toe bones are so tiny, they break easily & most people don't even realize that their stubbed to is broken. Again, not really much can be done unless it's really out of place. I just usually buddy taped the toe, took it easy & iced/elevated my foot. Oh, & wore supportive shoes, no flip flops or heels, etc. Good luck.

A fracture and a break are the same thing. To me it looks like you stubbed it pretty good and bruised it. Even if it is fractured, unless the bone is displace the only thing they will do for it is buddy tape it to the next toe to help stabilize it.  You can ice it, throw it up on a pillow and take some Tylenol and ibuprofen.
