California/ day care Mom’s/ heat advisory

Mayra

So I live in California and we have a heat advisory. My son goes to daycare and I worry that he’ll overheat. He is already a naturally warm 2 yr old. He’ll turn red and sweat in a regular warm day (80-ish degrees) I have asked his daycare what their policy is for playing during the heat and they told me it’s up to the teachers and how they feel about how hot it is. Usually when I pick him up they’re playing outside and he’ll be so sweaty. Sometimes they do play inside. I’m on my way to pick him up soon so I’ll know if he’s been outside. It’s about 100 degrees today so I really hope he isn’t outside. There have been times when I thought it was way to warm to play outside and I’ve picked him up and sure enough he’s out there. My question is how do I let the day care know that it’s too hot for them to be outside? Temps are going to reach 110 this week and I worry for him and the other kids. Are there any rules/regulations regarding weather and daycare I can show them? The day care he goes to is great and will listen to my concerns I’m just wondering how to bring it up. One time the kids were playing outside and you could see/smell smoke from a fire and I tried to tell them that the kids shouldn’t be outside but I don’t think I communicated my concern effectively. I don’t like confrontation and have a hard time expressing myself so just need some tips/advise.

Sorry this is so long.
