I'm 17 years old and I lost my virginity to my boyfriend 3 months ago. We have been continuing to have sex since. My mom has recently found out that I've been having sex and is no longer allowing me to see my boyfriend anymore. I feel as if I should get more of a say considering I'll be 18 in 7 months. I've been with my boyfriend for almost a year and I really love him. My whole family loves him, he has good intentions, and is a man of his word. so should a 17 year old be able to control her sex life?

Well, you can feel like you should get more say all you want. Fact is, how much say you get is entirely up to your parents until you're legally an adult.  So, regardless what you, I, or anyone else "feels" you should be able to do- only  your parents get to make that call.

I’m 17 as well and my boyfriend and I are also sexually active. When my mom found out I was having sex she wasn’t thrilled as well, but I let her know that I was safe and that I feel I’m responsible enough to take care of my body. I also told her that I would never let anyone disrespect my body or me and that seemed to make her feel much better. Just let her know that you’re being responsible and safe, that’s all you could do. As far as her not letting you see your boyfriend, I know it’s annoying and can be irritating, but she just doesn’t want to see you get pregnant or hurt so try not to be too upset with her. She has her reasonings as to why she doesn’t want you having sex.

If you live in your parents house (assuming you do since your 17 probably still in high school) they make the rules. It may seem unfair but you are still a minor in their house.

You have the freedom to do whatever you want. However, that does not give you freedom from the consequences of your choices. Maybe your parents are overreacting, but that is their call. They are responsible for you and as long as you are under their care and protection, you have to follow their rules.

I don’t think you can know what Love it’s at 17 and another I think you could get pregnant 🤰🏼 think hard about that lol and your mom has a right to be upset tho . you should see if he can come to your house under supper vision and come around when she cools off a little because if he loves you and you love you will want to do that not just have sex you will want to see each other period and it won’t just be a sexual attraction it’s definitely frustrating but at least you will get to see each other

That’s unfair. Are you on birth control of any sort? Maybe talk to her about it. I mean she can’t possibly think at 17, with a boyfriend for a year, that you wouldn’t be having sex?? 
Maybe she’s just worried about you getting pregnant.

I think she should talk with u and make sure u r being safe. Would she rather u be honest or go behind her back and still see him?? Cuz you’ll find a way.
