Probably 2 ish yrs but the butterflies develop into deeper love if you understand that real love isn’t always sparkles and rainbows. Too many people leave their relationships looking for that excitement again thinking they’re no longer in love when actually if u stick it out you are rewarded by an amazing comfortable love and the excitement actually does come back!! 5 yrs, a 2yr old and we are both very happy and in love

I’m coming up to 2 years with my partner and I have come to accept that our honeymoon phase won’t ever wear off. We moved in together 2-3 months after we got together so we have seen each other at our best and worst. Every day I fall more and more in love with my partner. 
It’s a different kind of love to what it was in the beginning but this love is definitely better. We are so content, secure, happy and just.... in love. It’s so hard to explain. 
We were cuddling on the couch last night (like we always do) and we were ‘arguing’ about who loves each other the most and we both declared that we are so grateful for every single day we have together. He has felt like a permanent part of my life since I met him (I didn’t know if his role in my life would be my friend or my partner, but I knew he was supposed to be in my life) but every day he becomes MORE permanent. Like, there is no way in hell we could ever be torn apart.

I would describe the honeymoon phase as both being happy all the time with no arguments happening and both people are doing everything “right” in each other’s eyes. I’ve been married 5 years and that wore off at about 6 months to a year and things started to get real. Just because the honeymoon phase is over it doesn’t mean you aren’t in love. When the honeymoon phase is over is when the relationship gets real. Arguments and disagreements happen and there won’t always be good days, BUT the love and the bond continues to grow stronger which in my opinion is much better than the honeymoon phase.
