hcg level home pregnancy test

so I don't have my first appointment for another 2 weeks. I am insane and have been taking home pregnancy tests every week or so until my appointment to make sure the test line is getting darker and HCG is increasing. The problem is my test lines are about the same, they're clear but not darker than the control line. 2 weeks ago my test line was very dark and control line very light. Now they're almost the same.. can someone explain? I feel crazy, and I just want to know my baby is growing and okay. This is my first pregnancy.
