i know this will sound silly but it is my biggest pet-pev when anyone refers to a child who is over 1 years old by "months". like they made it to a year, then 2 years... why are people still saying "my 28 month old child" ... ugh so your 2 n half year old who will be 3 years old soon... like what are people going to say when their child is 4 years old oh my blah blah month old child... my child is 2 years old almost 3 years old. i will treat him like the big boy he is, on his cales i will put 3 candles becuz he is 3 years old soon noth blah blah months he is....       so my rant is over. what is some one everyone else's pet-pevs?

My biggest pet peeve lately has been people asking my 2 month old questions in a freaking baby voice. Like I’m the one that has to answer and I just feel so dumb responding to a baby voice. By all means talk to her but don’t ask her questions that I have to answer, just ask me how old she is like a normal person.

I’m guilty of using months far beyond age one. In peds we have a 12 month, 15 month, 18 month, 24 month, and 30 month check up so it doesn’t make sense to me to refer to kids between 1 and 2 as just a 1 year old. There’s such a huge developmental difference between a 15 month old and a 2 year old. 
Over age 2 it doesn’t matter as much and beyond age 3 I rarely worry about months but I’d argue that between 1 and 2 months are still really important. 
May not make it less annoying but maybe more understandable?

My biggest pet peeve is when people call babies “it” instead of their name or “the baby”.
Like, “Hand me it” “it’s sleeping” or something similar.
Drives me nuts lol. If people want to hold my son and say “hand it here” then I won’t let them hold him until they correct it lol.

As for what my pet peeve is... not baby related but it drives me nuts. I’ve only ever seen it here in South Carolina but looks like other places do it to.

As far as I can tell it means exactly the same thing that a turning left on a green light means (aka you’re permitted to make a left turn but must yield to incoming traffic). 
I feel like if you need a sign to explain your traffic light you’re doing something wrong. Totally not important but every time I see one while driving it annoys me.

Before I had kids I didn’t understand why people did this too....... “14 months” its sounds so old why not say one and half? Or one, or two? Because not only developmentally are those ages sooo different.... but it’s sort of a habit you fall into when they are younger...
If you take your 5 yr old to the dr, the dr only needs to know that they are 5 but if you take your 17 month old, the dr needs to know that! a 17 mo is specifically a 17 mo. they are still going through stages like babies go through, growth spurts, developmental stages, regressions, everything.... I think closer to two is when I naturally relax on it and stop thinking of the months as much..... and it’s less irrelevant... when random people ask me my kids age I don’t say it in months for any other reason except it’s the first way I think to say it, to me I have an 18 month old! Every now and again I was saying almost 1.5 or just over one, but it was literally because I remembered to make it easier for people lol. Even with my second I thought to myself “ehh I’ll be hip and not obnoxious.. after one I’m forgetting the months” didn’t happen lol they are still babies and their little month birthday is like, imprinted in your brain 😅 just explaining why we do this 😬😊 now, over two years old, yeah.. that’s pretty annoying!

I kind of get it, I mean developmentally there is a big difference between 12 mo & 23mo... but I do think “1” or “1 & 1/2” or “almost 2” should suffice. 
My pet peeve is people snapping at babies to get their attention (usually for pictures) like if you did that to an adult it would be considered extremely rude, why are we doing it to kids. Plus it’s a baby, I’m ok if they aren’t looking right at the camera.
