Gestational diabetes? Experiences?

Question

I didnt pass my 1 hour so have to go back for my 3 hour. I know you can fail the 1 hour and go back and pass your 3 hour, but I'm curious as to what is next if I dont pass my 3 hour next Tuesday. I'll be 30 weeks that day. What is done differently while having GD? Eating habits, testing? What is your experience with it when you had it?

I was diagnosed at 29 weeks. I’m 34 now and I’ve been able to control it with diet and not having any high numbers. I keep my carbs to around 25-40 each meal and 15-20 for snacks. I make sure I have protein with my meals as well and it really keeps my numbers low. I’ve looked up a ton of low carb recipes on Pinterest and have found quiet a few that I love. It’s def manageable but you have to plan ahead. I’ve let myself have a few treats here and there and still have stayed within range. It just all depends on your body and hormones. I think it depends on the severity of your GD. A lot of people can control it by diet changes but even doing that you have to check your bloods regularly. If it can’t be controlled by diet alone you may need insulin.
