Any babies talking yet?

Question

Starting to get concerned. My son is 14 months old. He still only says “momma” and “dada”. He doesn’t even say momma a lot. He only says it when he feels like it. If I try to get him to say it he purposely says dada. Have your babies vocabulary expanded yet or are they still only saying momma and dada? I try to get him to say other things and he truly has no interest. He just says dada. So I guess I’m just curious where your babies are at.

My son Is doing the exact same thing! Also making me concerned. He says "dada" all the time. He babbles constantly but no real words. He is also doing this screaming thing that I don't know if that's because of a hearing thing or defiant when I say "no" or take something away. I am going to talk with my doctor at our next appointment.

all babies are different. my son is very behind on his walking (he's in physio) hes only started standing recently.. but he talks loads and I mean loads. he even has full sentences. then I know a baby 2 months younger than him that is walking already and like you're LO only says dada. I wouldn't worry. they say if they don't have a few words by 18 months then it's a concern but not at this age :)

I’m stressing over this too! My sons 15 month appt is the end of August and I’m praying he isn’t behind. He says mama, dada, pa ( that’s his grandpa) , car, tries very hard to say bird and ball. And that’s about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

My son is 14 months and he only still says mama and dada too. I’m not worried though because his babbles have become more pronounced so I know he will start saying real words soon!
I wouldn’t be too concerned, all my friends’ kids didn’t start saying real words until they were 18 months.

My girl is 13 months soon to turn 14 months. She says dad, and what sounds like this, that, bop (for her pacifier) and baby very rarely. She will on occasion repeat a word we say. I am also concerned, her comprehension far outweighs her verbal ability at this point. I’m going to wait until her 15 month appt and if nothing changes bring it up to the doctor to get her hearing tested and possibly evaluated for speech therapy.

My daughter is 14 months and right now everyone is “dada” she thinks it’s a game. She will call me “momma” if she’s in need, or wants out of her bed. She says “dog, stop, no, this, that, kitty but comes out titty, hi, bye” once in awhile she spurt out a few words. The other day she put her sippy into her cup holder on her car seat and said “I got it!” Clear as day. Don’t worry. Every baby talks at their own pace. My first was jabbering away at this age and this baby is a lot more behind talk wise.

My daughter will. be 14 months at the end of month. Mostly says mama and dada. Can say other things, but its like a word of the week thing.  Current obsession is Bye while waving....does it at correct times, but also anytime you leave the room, stand by front door, something dies or leaves on tv, to the outside if going inside, when she wants to leave a crowded area....its kinda cool and weird all at once.
I always feel like my LO is behind, because a friends 17 mth old has the vocab of a 2.5 yr old. I have to remember all kids excel at different tracks of learning. My LO is best at social and cognitive skills, not language .

My boy says “mama”, “cracker”, “daddy”, “nana”, and “more”. He signs “more” more often than he says it. He constantly babbles and tries words when I repeat them to him over and over. It’s not a race and definitely not one size fits all. They learn when they’re ready.

Well... my officially 15 month old only has mom dad and AT (for our puppy Atlas) never even thought of her as behind- she’s definitely introspective..... I wouldn’t worry until they’re two... just keep talking face to face and singing and reading :)
