NuvaRing and Bleeding

I’ve had a bad history with birth control but have to be on it for health reasons. The pill made my PCOS flair ups worse. I had an allergic reaction to the Depo shot. Now I’m on NuvaRing and for the most part I haven’t had any issues... except that I was told I wouldn’t bleed until I took it out, but did anyway. I bled heavier than usual and only 2 weeks after my last period ended. Is this normal? Should I be concerned about my body’s reaction or about the effectiveness of my birth control? Has anyone else had this issue with NuvaRing?
