Was I protected right away???

I was on birth control for 6 months and then took a month break. I got back on it this month and began it on the 4th day of my period. Was I protected right away? I had unprotected sex with the pull out method after 2 days of being on it and I was still lightly bleeding as my period was finishing up... I never experienced ovulation cm in the weeks after so I would assume I’m okay?
