How can you name someone you haven't met yet?

I tried to look through a names book and I couldn't find any names I liked (this book is full of popular names from 2012) My SO's response was 'how can you name someone you haven't met yet'. The struggle is so real!! I feel like we won't find a name until the baby is here and we'll just be calling him /her baby for a couple of weeks😏

You can definitely have some picks but I agree, we don’t make it final before Baby is actually born. That being said once you have one, I want the names to go together so second and third and beyond so they get if pigeon holed into a certain category I find.

Pick out a few things you like and then wait and see how you feel once the baby is born! With my second we had the name Jameson picked out from day one and when he was born it just didn’t fit him, so 14 hours after delivery his name was changed to Luke, and it fits him perfectly!! It’s okay not to be sure before you meet them!

My husband was raised Jewish & it’s tradition to name your child after a relative who has passed. Also, a lot of people name their children names that have meanings for life or that their hopes for them.

I'm struggling too in finding names for our second child. We aren't finding out the gender so it kinda makes it harder lol With my son, it was like I knew his name well before he was concieved, I had a moment where I wondered if it would be right, but I knew it kept in my head for a reason so I trusted it. This time, so far nothing has for sure popped out. I'm sure it will though, but I'm getting impatient haha

My mom had my sister named Chrystal before birth and after she was born they called all the family to announce the name. 30 minutes later she started crying and saying she doesn’t feel like a Chrystal and changed her name to Jamie. They had to re-call the entire family with the new name.

For me, it doesn’t feel real until I know the gender and have a name. My first pregnancy we couldn’t decide on a name so we just sat down and finally decided. This second time around we said we were going to wait until he was born but then we heard a name, it stuck with both of us and now I am almost 34 weeks and we are calling him by that name...it just happened. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So for me, I apparently can’t wait to name things. If it didn’t match when I met him I would change it though but I just really feel it will.
