My pug eats what?!

Hey everyone! I’m just at a loss of what to do. I have a 15 month old pug and she has always had a bad habit of eating pretty much anything. I thought it was normal at first because she’s been a puppy, and still pretty much is, and I know puppies are curious and like to chew things. But this is getting ridiculous...

My pug eats rocks! My husband and I have done everything to try and stop her but she is so quick and sneaky. We scold her, we pry them out of her mouth and tell her “No!”, but she is so quick. She will literally go in the yard to go to the bathroom and while she’s sniffing around, she swipe up a pebble and instantly swallow it when we yell at her.

Last Friday she got sick and long story short, she had five rocks in her intestines. We were moments away from performing surgery on her, but the vet took one last X-ray and thankfully the rocks moved to the colon and she was able to pass them on her own. But this really freaked us out!

Has anyone had this issue with their dog before?! What can I do to stop her?! We bought a little muzzle but she hates it and can’t even keep it on, plus I feel bad using it on her...Help!!

(Ps. We rent a house and it has a small side yard covered in only pebble rocks, so it’s not like we can just replace it with grass since we rent and there’s HOA too.)
