Progesterone Injections?

Hi Ladies..I am currently nearing the end of my first trimester with my second child, due February 12th. My first child was born prematurely at 34w due to PROM. My doctor mentioned progesterone injections starting at 16w. I've done some research and I'm not too sure about it. Have any of you ladies had these injections? If so, what was your experience and did you carry to full term? Would you take them again? Just looking for any helpful/useful advice and reviews. Thanks!

I’m currently take my them and they seem to be doing their job. I had preterm labor at 25wks & then PPROM’d at 30wks. I started Makena injections at 16 weeks and have cervical length checks every other week. I’m 24wks today and my cervix is 3.5, which is normal. I have an irritable uterus, so I have tons of contractions but they don’t seem to be doing anything. I look forward to my weekly injection bc I feel like it’ll get me another week (I feel best 1-2 days after my shot). They are a literal pain in the ass and I get a little itchy welt at the injection site, but it’s well worth it if I can avoid another 10 week NICU stay!! Good luck!!

I did progesterone injections at the beginning of my pregnancy through 10 weeks bc we conceived via IVF. They are doable, but annoying. My best advice is to have someone do it for you. My husband and I had a routine every night. He would inject me and then I’d sit on the heating pad for a bit. Also, once you load the syringe, make sure you warm it up in your heating pad for a minute or two. It makes the progesterone flow easier. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
