Is it rude to make an offer on an item you’re interested in?

*think of Facebook resale, or a place where you’d buy from other people, not a store like Walmart 😂*

I’m a member of a few groups on Facebook where I sell things constantly. I sell baby clothes, as well as women’s clothes. Keep in mind everything I sell is new with tags, never worn or washed.

I posted a Lilly Pulitzer popover that I bought online, tried on and realized it was too small.

So, I turned to a LP FB resale site. I purchased the popover for $99 & since it was a clearance I couldn’t return it.

I listed the popover for $90 shipped. I had a lady message me and offer $50 for it.

I politely declined. She then said “well, I could maybe do $55”.

It just rubbed me the wrong way, and I found it rude.

What do y’all think?

Do you think it’s rude to offer anything lower than the stated price?

Is it only rude to “lowball”offer?

Personally, if she would’ve offered $10 or so less, I wouldn’t find it rude. I just found it a bit tacky (?) to offer $40 less.
