How to get ex back

Please don’t say ‘ he’s an ex for a reason ‘ and stuff like that because i genuinely want him back and we’re close friends still but we both know that we’re better off together and we needed space more then anything but I don’t want to properly lose him. What are some tips or that to get him back ( I might be seeing him today ) without seeming desperate or so and what to say to him
